Data Team – Our Act of Kindness

The annual team ‘random act of kindness’ always makes us stop and think of those around us for whom life is perhaps not as rosy as our own and this year was no different.  I’d had the opportunity to work with the team from ‘My Sisters House’ previously so when the Data Team was given the opportunity to support a local charity, they were on the tip of my tongue.

Based in Bognor Regis the charity has been a mainstay of support for women in West Sussex since 2015 offering a safe space, supporting and empowering women to take positive action for their own futures.

After contacting their fundraising team we found they were struggling to collect gifts and stocking fillers for boys, boys who will be spending their Christmas in temporary accommodation having undergone upheaval and distress.  Data Team didn’t disappoint!  We managed to collect enough items to ensure that 20 boys have a moment of childhood, to enjoy the Christmas that we take for granted.

Customer Support Team – Our Act of Kindness

Every week volunteers from the Selsey Community Forum hold an Indoor garden tea party for local residents who may have found themselves alone after losing a partner or just far away from family and friends. It gives individuals an opportunity to have a chat with others in similar situations, over a cup of tea or coffee. One of the Customer Support Team, who has a passion for baking regularly bakes a cake for them to enjoy. Usually, this doesn’t last long, with some of the attendees grabbing their slice before they’ve even taken their coats off! On 17^th December as a random act of kindness, the rest of the Customer Support team supported the cause and baked a selection of goodies for them to enjoy – with Sam’s speciality sausage rolls, Marcela’s amazing Slovakian biscuits, Sue’s irresistible coffee and walnut cake and lemon drizzle cake and Joanne’s chocolate cake they were absolutely spoiled for choice.

The regulars had a bit of a whip round and gave £20 as a contribution for the regular cakes they receive. In another random act of kindness this was promptly donated to the Selsey Community Forum as sponsorship for the great work they do.

 

Trace Team – Our Act of Kindness

For the Trace Teams Act of kindness, we decided to make a donation of Christmas gifts and essential items to Ronald McDonald house. Ronald McDonald housing provide housing for families with children in hospital completely free of charge. They rely on fundraisers to help support families in their houses. Their vision is for every child in hospital to have their families close by, and to ensure families are fully supported in the house.

The best medical care for your child isn’t always close to home and families often find themselves travelling long distances to be with their child in hospital. Their 12 houses across the UK give families a warm and comfortable place to rest, eat and relax, just moments away from their child’s hospital ward.

Ronald McDonald house have supported over 50,000 families from all walks of life, both across the UK and some corners of the globe. For those families, staying close to their child in hospital receiving care is the number one priority.

We hope these items help families feel a little more comfortable through their difficult time.

 

Food Hampers for 87 children this Christmas

Members from all teams volunteered their time to pack and deliver hampers for 87 children to enjoy this Christmas!!! Target supported the fabulous initiative Full Up – nutritious meals for kids, giving families who need it a helping hand this Christmas.
