Target Volunteer on Christmas Day
Christmas Day arrived and many volunteers were in attendance at the The Selsey Private Club, joined by a number of Team Target. The day was a huge success and all who were in attendance thoroughly enjoyed the day.
Joanne who volunteered at the Selsey Club added “Finding myself at a bit of a loose end this Christmas I joined over 30 volunteers to assist with the community Christmas lunch. This event supported by Target and many other local businesses provided a free Christmas lunch for the vulnerable and those who would have normally spent Christmas alone. There were 80 who were able to attend the Selsey Private club for dinner and entertainment and a further 29 who had dinner delivered by volunteer drivers to them in their homes along with a hamper and plant donated by the local community. The day went by quickly with various tasks to do from wrapping presents for the dinner guests (all of which had been donated), meeting and greeting the guests as they arrived and making sure that no-one was left unattended to getting the right meals out to those who could not attend – we’ll not trifle that a few may have got sent the wrong pudding. It was so uplifting to see so many people from the community involved, especially on a day where most have so much on already. And so heart-warming to see that our efforts were appreciated by the guests – who without exception had enjoyed the day. This event will be on my list for next Christmas”
