Target In The Community– Cowdray Park Golf Club Charity Day
At Target we continue to support our community in any way we can. By offering all at Target the opportunity to work for a charitable cause, it helps us reach out to multiple charities that support many different causes. Last week Samantha Jones took the opportunity to use her Charity day, to raise money for St Wilfrid’s Hospice by playing gold at Cowdray Park. Here’s how her day went.
On 17th July 2019 I had the pleasure of using one of my Charity Work days to participate with my husband and friends (Iain, Gill and her son Chris) in a Charity Golf Day held at Cowdray Park Golf Club to raise money for St Wilfrid’s Hospice. They provide a fantastic service throughout the Manhood Peninsula and parts of West Sussex, providing end of life care in the community supporting both patients and their family/loved ones. At some point somebody in our community have used these services or know someone who has been looked after at the hospice and they play a massive and special role in our community.
We joined the day with 48 other avid golfers all arranging time off to attend this charity day, with the sun shining down on the beautiful Cowdray Park and several prizes up for grabs and most of all lots of fun to be had from all that took part.
The course was beautiful although the hills were a bit of a shock to my legs (I am more used to the flat and….. those greens – putting was DIFFICULT!!), the weather was very hot and for many who were sensible they hired a buggy, but by the time we thought to do this they were all gone – Lesson learned!
Although we were in a 4 ball team the organisers arranged a great format where everyone was issued a colour within their team – Orange, Blue, Green and Blue and provided us to wear caps in those colours which meant throughout the day it felt like it was you against the course (which was quite tough for the likes of me who are quite new to the sport).
Unfortunately, I was Orange and my husband was Blue who won overall so he had the bragging rights all the way home! and a lovely mug which they made up for the occasion with a set of golf balls.
The day ended with a great raffle where everyone donated a prize and needless to say it was a big success, with the final raffle and the day raising £740.00 for St Wilfrid’s Hospice
Thank you Target Professional Services for my Charity Work Day – much appreciated, Sam Jones (Trainee People Tracer)
