Target Supporting Mental Health
The Academy Selsey has been recognised by Ofsted as providing ‘a strong programme of student leadership’ and acknowledging ‘mental health awareness is a strength.’
Target has supported 20 young people through the Mental Health English Youth Mental Health Ambassadors course. This provides pupils with an opportunity to discuss their emotional well-being with another child.
Nick Brown, deputy headteacher said ‘Speaking to one’s peers about mental health concerns can catch problems early and signpost the right professionals to discuss issues with. This has a positive effect on social interactions, attendance and student progress. With the frequency of anxiety and depression on the rise we, TAS and Target, are providing the community with a point of contact. We would like to thank Target as they have also supported training of staff as Mental Health Ambassadors.’
